Portland Homes Damaged by Frozen Pipes
12/21/2020 (Permalink)
As winter begins the temperatures start to drop and that can cause issues in your property. When the temperatures drop below freezing for a few days in a row the water inside your pipes may freeze, causing the pipe to expand and crack. Once the temperature begins to rise the ice will thaw and cause water damage in the broken pipe.
If your pipes have already frozen over, here are some steps until help arrives.
- Locate the water main shut-off valve
- Open the faucet so thawing water can flow freely & relieve pressure
- Warm the pipes with a space heater or hair dryer
- If you find leaks are causing water damage, give us a call right away
